Geschichte [Bearbeiten] 2007?2008: Debut und erstes Album [Bearbeiten] Im Juli 2007 wurden die neun Mitglieder von Girls’ Generation von S.M. Entertainment vorgestellt, beginnend mit Yoona am 6. Juli. An den darauffolgenden Tagen wurden nacheinander Tiffany, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Seohyun, Taeyeon, Jessica und Sunny vorgestellt. Das alteste Mitglied, Taeyeon, wurde als Bandleader ausgewahlt; der offizielle Fanclub der Band heist S?NE (??, sowon). Die Mitglieder waren zuvor alle schon Teil der Talentagentur S.M. Entertainment und wurden uber mehrere Jahre in den Bereichen Singen, Tanzen und Schauspielerei ausgebildet und schlieslich uber einen Zeitraum von ungefahr zwei Jahren fur die Gruppe gecastet. Auch wahrend dieser Zeit vor ihrem Debut waren einige Bandmitglieder bereits als Schauspielerinnen, Tanzerinnen, Models oder Moderatorinnen aktiv. Am 5. August 2007 hatte die Band ihren ersten Auftritt in der Musiksendung Inkigayo mit ihrer Debut-Single ?Dasi Mannan Segye“ (??? ?? ??“, ?Into the New World“). Die Single, die am 2. August 2007 in Sudkorea erschien, verkaufte sich uber 70.000 Mal. Neben dem Lied ?Into the New World“ enthielt die Single auch noch die Titel ?Beginning“ und ???“ (?Sowon“), der spater fur ihr erstes Album Girls’ Generation in ?Honey“ umbenannt wurde. ?Beginning“ wurde von dem schwedischen Songwriting-Team Vacuum geschrieben. Des Weiteren enthalt die Single eine Instrumental-Version von ?Into the New World“. Schon zuvor, am 27. Juli 2007, startete ein Bandtagebuch des Senders Mnet mit dem Titel Sonyeo Hakgyoe Gada (?? ??? ??, Madchen gehen zur Schule). Auch der Sender MTV Korea widmete der Gruppe eine Sendereihe. Nach einer kurzen Pause erschien am 1. November 2007 das erste Album der Gruppe mit dem Titel Girls’ Generation. Der erste Song ?????“ (?Sonyeosidae“, ?Girls’ Generation“), zu dem auch ein Musikvideo produziert wurde, ist ein Cover von Lee Seung-cheols gleichnamigen Hit aus dem Jahr 1989. Rick Perry said he would cut the United States' foreign aid budget to zero and then allocate taxpayer dollars depending on each country's support for America, indicating that Pakistan would no longer receive U.S. aid but Israel would. "It's time for us as a country to say no to foreign aid to countries that don't support the United States of America," Perry said. His idea received support from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich but, in the case of Pakistan, was opposed by Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Pennsylvania Sen. The American relationship with that country has become strained since the covert operation by U.S. Marines killed Osama bin Laden, who had been hiding in the country for years. In explaining his agreement with Perry, Gingrich appeared to indicate that no thought goes into deciding how much aid each country receives. "Consider the alternative," Gingrich said. "You're giving some country $7 billion a year. You start off-- or in the case of Egypt, $3 billion a year -- you start off every year and say here's your $3 billion, now I'll start thinking? You ought to start off at zero and say, explain to me why I should give you a penny." Bachmann, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, depicted foreign aid for Pakistan as a national security issue. "I would reduce foreign aid to many, many countries, but there's a problem because Pakistan has a nuclear weapon," Bachmann said. "We have more people affiliated with al Qaeda closer to that nuclear bomb than in any other nation." For Santorum, Pakistan "must be a friend of the United States" for the same reason. In response to a viewer question submitted via Twitter about the amount of aid Israel would receive, Perry indicated that he'd support providing the country with aid. He also considered expanding the case-by-case budgetary method to federal departments, making a reference to a debate earlier this week in which he could only name two of the three departments he wanted to defund. "Obviously, Israel is a special ally, and my bet is that we would be funding them at some substantial level," Perry said. "But it makes sense for everyone to come in at zero and make your case. As a matter of fact, we ought to try doing that with some of those agencies that I was trying to think the name of." By the end of the debate, the Perry campaign had issued a statement clarifying that he's "a friend to Israel and understands the challenges faced by the country," according to Talking Points Memo. November 13, 2011 With Clock Ticking, an Economist Accepts a Mandate to Rescue Italy ROME ? Mario Monti, a former member of the European Commission, conditionally accepted a mandate on Sunday to form a new government in Italy whose main task will be to keep the country from being dragged under by Europe’s debt crisis. Mr. Monti, 68, a respected economist who has promised to be a steady hand in a time of market turbulence, said he expected to move ahead as soon as he secured a parliamentary majority for the new government. Assembling a majority usually requires days or weeks of talks, but Italy does not have the luxury of time. Skeptical investors have pushed the country’s borrowing costs to dangerous heights, putting at risk the euro currency that 17 nations share. The crisis forced the resignation of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Saturday, turning Italy’s most complex political shift in nearly two decades into one of its most urgent transitions. President Giorgio Napolitano, who as the head of state must approve the formation of a new government, gave a tough speech on Sunday aimed at reassuring investors about Italy’s commitment to the euro and warning the nation’s insular political class about the stakes involved. He called on lawmakers to form a broad coalition in support of Mr. Monti that would be able to push through urgent economic measures. News media reports said that Mr. Monti initially sought to include figures from the major parties in his cabinet in an effort to share the political cost of the government’s program, including unpopular austerity measures. But while most major parties were prepared to back his government, few were willing to join it. The new cabinet is now expected to consist mainly of technical experts rather than politicians.
