凄い映像にもなんとか対応できるレベル？
うちのTimeMachineは、

The LaCie 2big Thunderbolt Series is essentially the LaCie Little Big Disk in 3.5" form factor.
It has two swappable 3.5" drives whereas the Little Big Disk has two 2.5" drives.
3.5" drives offer larger capacities and better performance, particularly with hard drive.
→The 2big is rated at transfer speeds up to 327MB/s while the Little Big Disk tops out at 190MB/s (both results are for the non-SSD versions).
→The 2big most likely uses the same SATA controller as the Little Big Disk, which means you are limited to two SATA 3Gb/s ports.
People who are interested in swapping the hard drives for SSDs should be aware that
the SATA controller will be a potential bottleneck with the fastest SATA 6Gb/s SSDs.

比較しないのに上も下もないですからねぇ。

USB3.0のケーブル2本買ったけど、

ケーブル2本買うだけでもThunderboltなら1万円近い出費！
USBなら1000円だ。

そんな状態で何をどう比べて上だと言えるのかな？
確かに価格に関しては上だけどね。
逆に見るとそれはコストパフォーマンス的に
下だと言うことだよ。
外部ドライブには適さないものだ。
内蔵SSD＋USB3.0外付け大容量HDD
これが最強の組み合わせです。
そもそも内蔵SSD(768GB)がほぼ埋まったからexternal使うんだが。

何から何まで同じケーブルで賄おうとするから
無駄に内部ケーブルの本数も増えて
無駄なコストアップが生じてしまうんだろね。
別にモニターと外部ドライブを
同じ規格で統一する必要なんて無かったのにね。
USB2.0のパソコンに接続することも出来るが、
Thunderboltは接続するパソコンも限定的。
FireWireが既に切り捨てられてしまったように
Appleが好むポートはいつも将来性がない。

特別利便性が上がるわけでもなく、
機能的に見ると退化である。
何でも1つのポートに機能をぶち込み過ぎて
無駄にポートが巨大になってしまっていたので、
結局は機能をそぎ落としてシンプルに作り替えた。
それはThunderboltにも言えることかもしれない。
何でも1つのポートで色々やらせよと思うと
ろくなことにはならない。
未だにSEXに囚われの身になっているんだね。
